Established in Romania in 2006, Tacrom Services S.R.L. provides hydraulic fracturing, acidizing, pumping and gravel pack stimulation services, as well as coil tubing and nitrogen services. This success story started when Romanian National Oil Company Petrom (member of the OMV group) selected ten wells to be hydraulically fractured by Tacrom. Tacrom’s work resulted in increased production and they received a surge of new treatment orders. The first fracturing fleet was replaced in 2013 and upgraded in 2014 and 2015 with further stimulation equipment from GOES GmbH, Germany.
Tacrom Drilling S.R.L. was founded two years later, in 2008. Winning a contract for an enhanced field recovery project was no surprise since the company offers a fast-moving “turnkey service” for drilling and completion of shallow wells in the west of Romania. In 2009 an additional 75t drilling rig was delivered with the intention to extend the area of operation. Two years later the company signed an onshore drilling contract, mobilising a third platform package. In 2012 Tacrom Drilling became a partner in the operations in Kurdistan (Khurmala field) with one rig for heavy work over. The company has performed over 300 fracs in Romania, 14 fracs in Azerbaijan, 6 in Turkey, 10 in Turkmenistan, 1 in Bulgaria, 1 in Albania, and 15 in Georgia with the list of projects in the pipeline constantly increasing. Currently the company is expanding to Ukraine and plans to make it the market of focus. Starting in 2017 we have performed 10 fracs in Ukraine, along with coiled tubing services as we ramp up to 4 fleets.
Dragos Mihalea, General Manager of the consortium, reflects on the dazzling success achieved so far and emphasizes: “Constantly being in touch with our partners from different countries makes us highly competitive. We have gathered equipment from Canada, Austria and Germany and developed our own very specific equipment which cannot be found on the market. This specialised assembly of equipment allows us to be both cheaper and better. In some cases we were able to perform our services by replacing the old technology of having multiple units on site with just one custom built GOES GmbH manufactured unit. Our services are integrated and come at a very reasonable price, offering volume discounts to our esteemed customers.”
